The Bangoura method is an educational concept which combines traditional West African musical traditions and rituals with contemporary knowledge taken from Gestalt therapy. As a method for dance education and therapy, it can be used effectively in a broad variety of contexts. It is aimed at anyone who loves to experience their body: professional dancers, therapists, social workers, and institutions focused on cultural cooperation and integration. The next training programme starts February 2019 and will take place in Hamburg over the course of seven weekends.
- Liberation: the body in African dance
- Pride: daring individuality within the group
- The snake: the power of repetition
- Passion: the body in music
- Pain: the ritual
- Shamelessness: the attitude of the holistic dance educator
This training is for anyone who is seeking more freedom and vigour in their lives. There are no prerequisites to take part. The Bangoura method is based on a holistic approach to the body that transcends efficiency-oriented concepts of dance and fitness. Men and women of every age are welcome. Anyone who is interested but has financial barriers can contact Stephanie Bangoura. Applications for scholarships are gladly accepted. Certificates in holistic dance education using the Bangoura method will be awarded to all who complete the programme. By completing the dance education training, you might have the chance to work with the Bangoura Group professional team, gain teaching experience, and participate in international social education projects.
