Uli Sundari Meinholz

Uli has been working as a drum maker, pedagogue and musician for West African and Brasilian percussion for over thirty years. Her percussion school”ILU“ in Hannover is attended by adults, children, beginners and advanced learners of all ages. Uli has a broad repertoire of rhythms, songs and dances which she learnt from study visits in India, Ghana Ghana, Brasil, Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Guadeloupe, Senegal, the Ivory Coast and Malawi. It is especially important for Uli to convey the social-political, ecologic and spiritual context of a rhythm to her students. Intercultural education is an integral element of her pedagogic practise. She loves to work with women and performs with many different local musicians internationally. As part of the Bangoura Group the world musician plays the N’Goni, an African harp to which special healing forces are attributed.
